Baptism

Yesterday marks 12 years since I was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! Here are a few parts from my journal entry of that day


"Today was one of the best days of my life(for reals)...I was a little nervous at first but when I walked into the water in the font I felt the Spirit. After I got the gift of the Holy Ghost. Then I got the feeling that I had made the right choice...Today has been the best and the most important day of my life" 

12 years later and I still feel the Spirit confirming to me that this is Christ's church on the earth. As I have strived to be faithful to the covenant that I made with God at baptism, I have seen my life change. I have found so much joy and so much peace. 

I am grateful for the chance on my mission to bring this joy and peace to others. This week we had a lesson with our friend and he started crying on the call after telling us how his life has changed since he started coming to church with us and reading Book of Mormon. He didn't say that his trials went away but he testified of a new strength that has helped him bear his burdens. 

I testify that God loves us!! He sacrificed His Son, Jesus Christ so that we can overcome any trial in our lives. Through Him we can find joy-we can be purified and sanctified. Our convenants strengthen our relationship with our Heavenly Father and prepare us to one day enter back into His presence. 

I hope all of you know how loved you are! God has not forgotten a single one of His children:)

  PORTO PORTUGAL TEMPLOOOOOOO LETS GOOOOO Conference was amazing. I didn't catch everything because my Portuguese is still mid but the spirit I felt from the speakers and the music is, as one of our new friends said, "indescribable"  Go watch it. Any talk. It's worth it.  My favorite lesson was the ideal vs the real.  Combined with all the references to the atonement of Christ, I was reminded that God is soo proud of my efforts. He knows how imperfect I am! He's known it for a while now. But that does stop Him from loving me. And to prove it, He sacrificed the thing most precious to Him. His beloved Son. His Only Begotten.  He watched Him suffer every pain, every infirmity just so that I could have a chance.  So that we all have a chance.  If you are feeling like your real is a little or lot unlike the ideal, don't give up this week. Walking in the Ways of my Father

  This week is my dads birthdays. Ive learned a lot from my dad. My dad is an amazing teacher. He takes every opportunity to learn and when he learns something, he loves to share it. I am one of the many benefactors of my dads greats lessons. Today I wanted to share some that have meant a lot to me on my mission:)  The law of the harvest,  or as my dad says: "If you plant tomatoes you are going to get tomatoes" You get out what you put in. On my mission, I have seen how true this is. When I plant the good seeds of obedience, diligence and patience, I see the fruits of those seeds.  "Expand your horizons"  I heard a lot of this one when I was in my picky eating phase. But really this principle of action has been very present with me on the mission. We don't settle. We try new things. When I am feeling comfortable with the missionary life, I know that its time to expand because we don't grow if we stay we are. We need new horizons. And that leads to the next o...

The Peace which Passeth all Understanding

If you follow European news, you might have heard already that Portugal was part of a massive blackout this past Monday. So that is my excuse for not sending an email 2 weeks in a row.  Though the blackout ended up being harmless, it was scary as a missionary. We were told that Portugal had been cyberattacked. We were given instructions to go to the chapel immediately and make sure that we had a supply of food and water. The markets were crowded with people stocking up on water jugs, bread and toilet paper(pois) Our phones lost service so after recieving the emergency text, we had no idea what was going on. From the talk of people on the street and the members who stopped by the church, this was the start of war.  Obviously that was a little dramatic. But with all the panic and the lack of information, it felt real. Even so, we weren't that scared.
