Come Unto Christ

When a friend tells us that he's giving up smoking, its easy to be happy for him. I know that his life and the life of his family will be blessed. It will be hard but in the end it will be worth it.

But when a single mother tells us that she is quitting her job so that she can attend church every Sunday, it is a lot harder. I don't instinctively think of the blessings or the end result. I worry for her and for her 1 year old daughter. I doubt that this is a sacrifice God really needs her to make.

With all that has happened this week, I have been focused on Christ's invitation to "Come unto me" On my wall, I have a picture of Christ drawn by my super cool and talented roommate Shandyn. I love it because Christ's hand is outstretched to the viewer. Every morning I look at that and remember Christ is asking eVeRyonE to come. We all have something to leave behind. For some it is an addiction, a job, a religion, a country. For others its a mindset, a habit, a burden or grudge. Often for me it is my pride or my anxieties! Whatever it is, the miracle of Christ's invitation is that every sacrifice we make in Christ's name is made worth it. Luke 9:24 says "whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it"

I love the new year because it is such a good time to evaluate where we are. As we reflect on the past year, we get to celebrate all of pur successes but also plan on ways to be a little better! As you make goals, I invite you to make Christ the focus of 2025. Make goals that will help you come unto Christ! I can promise that if Christ is first, the rest will work out.

On a less sentimental note...
- New years was extremely anticlimatic. Apparently there were a lot of fireworks but I slept through them
- The work here has been moving so fast! In the last 2 weeks, we put 7 people on date for baptism!
-Pray that the Correias will come to church this week. If they don't come, we have to stop teaching them for a while:((
- Sister Lopes and I have been doing this thing we call 5 seconds of courage. Usually it only takes 5 seconds to start a miracle!! Weve done a lot of crazy things haha like running after people, yelling across the street, hopping on random buses or following stars.

Okayy thats all for today. I hope that 2025 is off to a splendid start for yall!! Until next week!!

Love
Sis Greer
