Walking in the Ways of my Father

This week is my dads birthdays. Ive learned a lot from my dad. My dad is an amazing teacher. He takes every opportunity to learn and when he learns something, he loves to share it. I am one of the many benefactors of my dads greats lessons. Today I wanted to share some that have meant a lot to me on my mission:)

The law of the harvest,
or as my dad says: "If you plant tomatoes you are going to get tomatoes" You get out what you put in. On my mission, I have seen how true this is. When I plant the good seeds of obedience, diligence and patience, I see the fruits of those seeds.

"Expand your horizons"
I heard a lot of this one when I was in my picky eating phase. But really this principle of action has been very present with me on the mission. We don't settle. We try new things. When I am feeling comfortable with the missionary life, I know that its time to expand because we don't grow if we stay we are. We need new horizons. And that leads to the next one.

Greers do hard things
Ive always loved this standard that was taught in my home. Hard looks different for everyone of us, but whatever our hard is, we find it and do it. We run races, we learn new music. We direct choirs, we serve missions. As hard as hard things are, I know that I can do anything. With my Savior Jesus Christ pois;)

God makes rocks glow
My dad loves the story of the Brother of Jared in the Book of Mormon. Consequently, I love it too. My dad likes to emphasize that even after the Brother of Jared did all that he could to create light, what he handed over to the Lord was a shiny pile of rocks. But the Lord touched his imperfect offering and made it perfect.
That might not be how my dad would put it haha but thats what Ive learned. I can give my all, my 100% and it is still just a pathetic pile of rocks. But if I have the faith to ask God, He will make my offering sufficient. He will make it perfect.

I am so grateful for my amazing father! I am grateful to be here, walking the same streets, speaking the same language and sharing the same message that He did! I am grateful for his counsel and testimony. Most of all I am grateful for his love. I know my father loves me. That as helped me better understand how much my Heavenly Father loves me.

I hope you all know that Heavenly Father loves you too.

Have an amazing week
Sister Greer
